About the Wild Rose

Mission and Objective

The wild rose is the official flower of the state of Iowa , a thing of beauty growing "in the wild." The Wild Rose Independent Film Festival is a celebration of the vast, diverse, bizarre, hilarious, beautiful cinema art being created by independent moviemakers outside the mainstream.

Now in its fifth year, The 2007 Wild Rose Independent Film Festival will be held October 25-28 at the Fleur Cinema and Cafe in Des Moines , Iowa .

Attracting entries from across the U.S. as well as international entries, and awarding films and filmmakers in over 20 categories, this year's Wild Rose also includes cash prizes! Offering Workshops, a Keynote Speaker and Workshop Presenter, Lew Hunter , and a culminating Awards Ceremony, the WRIFF is an exciting event for both filmmakers and film buffs.

Past guests have included Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Pictures, Stu Pollard, Writer/Director of "Keep Your Distance" and actor GregAlan Williams of "The Sopranos", "West Wing", "Remember the Titans " and "Be Cool", as well as Ben Easter of "Boston Public", "Holiday in the Sun", "Undressed" and "I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer."

Held in an artsy, fun coffee house/cinema atmosphere and just minutes from the Des Moines airport and downtown's theater/music district and brewpubs, "The Wild Rose" is fast becoming one of the top trendy, indie film festivals in the Midwest.
